Content refresh
Articles that stay current after they publish.
Articles lose clicks quietly: a newer guide overtakes them, a statistic goes stale, an AI Overview appears. CitedSEO watches every article it wrote for you, spots the drop in your Search Console, works out why, and rewrites only what needs changing.

How it works
Three steps, then it runs itself.
It watches every article it wrote
Clicks and positions for each one, month by month: its last three months against its best three, and the same months a year earlier.
It finds the cause
A competitor’s newer guide, an outdated fact, a missing section, or a question the page no longer answers first.
It updates what matters
Each refresh lists what it will change and why. Approve it and the article updates in place, same URL.
What changes
See what we’ll change, and why.
Before you approve, a refresh lists what it will change on the live page and why. Once it’s written you can read it before it goes live, and undo it after.
- Missing sections found by comparing your outline with the top 10
- Each change comes with its reason and where it goes
- Undo any refresh after it ships
## How many stages should a sales pipeline have?
Sales pipelines have been around for decades, and every business has its own take on them. In this section we’ll explore…
Most small teams use 5 to 7 stages: lead, qualified, meeting, proposal, negotiation, won and lost.
According to a 2022 survey, 61% of teams…
According to a 2026 survey, 68% of teams…
Start with fewer stages than you think you need…
- Answer first: the two newer guides that overtook it both open this way
- Survey figure updated to the current edition
Proof it worked
Every refresh, followed to see what it did.
After a refresh ships, CitedSEO keeps watching the page. You see where it ranked before, where it is now, and the clicks it has brought back.
- Early signs first, then measured four weeks after it ships
- Clicks before and after, from Search Console
- No gain reads “No change yet”, never dressed up

What’s included
Everything content refresh does for you.
Slow decay
Slow slides caught while they’re still cheap to fix.
What is this?Why it’s slipping
Compared with the pages that overtook it, so the fix targets the real cause.
Not a seasonal dip
Each slide is checked against the same months a year earlier, so a page that dips every winter isn’t flagged.
What changes, and why
Each refresh lists what it will change before you approve, and can be undone after.
Your changes kept
Each refresh is made on the article’s latest version, so a change you asked for isn’t written over.
Every version kept
Each article lists its versions, so you can see what changed and when, and go back.
FAQ
Questions about content refresh.
The things people ask most about this feature. Anything else, just ask. A real person replies.
Still have a question?
Email us or book a quick call. Most replies land within a few hours.
Get in touchDoes the URL change?
No. The page is updated in place, so it keeps its rankings, links and history. The updated date changes so readers and search engines can see it’s current.
Will it rewrite the whole article?
Only what needs it. Most refreshes change a few sections: a new intro that answers the question first, current figures, a missing section. You see what we’ll change before you approve, and any change can be undone.
What about posts CitedSEO didn’t write?
CitedSEO only refreshes the articles it wrote. Your own posts are read so new articles can link to them, but they’re never edited.
How do I know a refresh worked?
Each refresh is marked on your Google chart. Once Google has the 28 days after it shipped, its clicks are measured against the 28 days before. If nothing moved, it says “No change yet”.
