How it works

Three steps, then it runs itself.

  1. It researches your searches

Searches Google answers with mostly the same pages share one page, so each group is one page to have.

  2. It groups them into topics

Pages on the same subject grouped together, with the pillar page for each big topic at the centre.

  3. It marks the gaps

Topics with no pillar page and searches no page covers. Missing links and competing pages come as fixes in your queue.

Missing links

Every article linked to its guide.

Articles of ours that aren’t linked to their topic’s pillar page, or that few pages link to, come as link fixes in your queue, with the links ready to add.

  • Found from the same topics
  • Links come only from articles about the same thing
  • Each one a fix in your queue

Once your starter is lively, it’s ready for an easy first bake like this no-knead focaccia.

Competing pages

Stop two pages fighting for one search.

When two of our articles split the same search, Google splits the clicks. A fix lands in your queue naming the page that leads.

What is a topic cluster?

A pillar page that covers a subject broadly, plus the detailed articles around it, all linked together. Covering a topic this way helps every page in it rank, and shows search engines and AI what your site knows well.

How are pages grouped?

By searches. Searches Google answers with mostly the same top 10 share one page, and each of those groups is placed in a topic.

Can I change the groups?

Not by hand. Groups come from what Google ranks for each search, and once made they stay put: new searches join them or start new ones.

Does it update when new articles go live?

Yes. Where each page stands is worked out every time you open it, so an article shows as ours as soon as it’s live.
