Connect Search Console, Bing and analytics

So Google and Bing know every page exists, and you can count your way to 1,000.

The steps

  1. Add your site to Google Search Console as a domain property, and verify it with the DNS record it gives you.

  2. Find your sitemap. Most platforms make one at /sitemap.xml or /sitemap_index.xml. Submit it under Sitemaps.

  3. Add the site to Bing Webmaster Tools too. It can import everything from Search Console, and Bing’s index is one of the sources ChatGPT search draws on.

  4. Turn on IndexNow if your platform supports it, so Bing hears about new pages the moment they publish.

  5. Install analytics, such as Plausible or Google Analytics, so you can see visitors and where they came from, AI assistants included.
